Rainbow Image

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...

Daisy was loved and admired by all who knew her.
She had a happy life with us, and she truly enriched our lives.
She is greatly missed!

Dakota Young
Dakota November 1996 — April 27, 2008 My dearest Dakota: When I first me you, over seven years ago, I can honestly say that I loved you the moment I laid eyes on you. You were four years old when you came to me from Denise, who did a wonderful job raising you those first four years of your life. Although it had to be scary for you, going to a new home and leaving the only family you knew. But it had to be, and little did you know how close we would become and the good times we would share together. You brought me so much joy and happiness over the last seven years. You taught me something that no human being was ever able to teach me — unconditional love. You always showed such a strong unconditional love for me — it was wonderful. I loved being your mommy, taking care of you, playing with you on the floor and going for walks with you. I will never forget how when my Dad passed away five years ago, you comforted me every night until he was buried. You slept curled up next to me in bed all night, every night for a week. Since that was definitely not normal behavior for you, in doing that, you let me know that you knew that I needed you close to me. Now you are with my Dad and all of our other loved ones that have gone on to a better place. I miss you terribly each and every day. Losing you has been harder than I even thought it would be. Please know that there are many others who miss you too — Chris, Jaclyn, Tyler, Pat, Brian, Shirley, Denise and her family, Donna, Raquel, Derek, Debbi, Carly, Pat and Barb. I have created a little memorial in your honor in my favorite garden here at the house. It includes a beautiful garden stone with your name on it. I have no doubt that we will be together again one day. Please wait for me at the Rainbow Bridge. Love, Connie Young

Dinah
For Betty

Abandoned, "a stray", taken to a shelter,
Bounced from home to home,
You took me in and gave me a place all of my own.

Everyday you showed me love.
For that I thank the powers above.
You showed me how good life could be
With someone who loved me for me.

Our time together was short but sweet
You are what made my life complete.
You stayed with me until the end
For this I thank you, beloved friend.

I'm gone from you now; this is true.
But I'll be waiting at the bridge for you
with happy ears and wagging tail.
We'll cross over together.
