Yogi and his sister KK were found abandoned on a country road in WV.  A gentleman was on an errand and found them in the middle of the road.  They were about 6 months old.  He turned around and took them home.  He and his wife notified the shelter and kept them for the waiting period.  They decided to keep them and find a home for them.  They had several GSDs of their own and while Yogi interacted with the GSDs, they were not sure what would happen come maturity.  They found ARMAC and contacted us at just the right time.  We had room.  KK has several congenital birth defects, but Yogi is perfectly normal. Both were in dire need of house manners and training.  Both are counter cruisers.  Yogi was in our kennel for a week.  One of our adopters lost her dog to cancer and volunteered to foster him.  The vet staff fell in love with him on his visit.  He is still young enough to be destructive so is crated while the foster is at work. Hopefully, that will be over when he hits two. In the meantime, he helps her shred her mail.  She has him on leash in the house when she is home. I walk him during the week midday while she is working.  Afterward, I stay for a bit to play and keep him company.  I usually have him off leash inside, watching him closely, but we play with his toys (many of which have been destroyed) and he is doing better. The chewing will abate near his 2nd birthday.  He still likes to try to pounce on the kitties, but more in play than predation.  He has learned to sit on command, downs with a little incentive, walks well on leash most of the time (squirrels can cause him to try to chase them), is great with kids in the neighborhood. Oh. and he has a helicopter tail. Yogi needs an active household.
