What Happened To...
NOTE: The following Akitas were featured on our website as a courtesy to either a shelter or an owner wanting to rehome their Akita. ARMAC does not euthanize Akitas for lack of space, time or because of old age.Those listed as "euthanized" were done so at either the shelter or by the owner.
We provide this webpage to educate the public regarding the terrible crisis the Akita breed is suffering in terms of numbers being turned into shelters and/or needing rehoming. But also, to dispel the myth that Akita's are a rare breed in the United States, rarely found in shelters.
