The owner says that he is crate trained. He walks well on a leash and has had no problems with dogs. He has lived with several pit bulls before. She doesn't know about cats or small animals but she stated that he is not aggressive at all. He did escape from the backyard but did not cause any dismay in the neighborhood. He had been kept in a small fenced enclosure with very little shade and I'm sure he was not comfortable there. The owner has been living with roommates so he has been quite socialized. She tells me for the moment he is staying with someone who has a Neufoundland and he is safe for now. Duke appeared to be a mild mannered dog when I met him.
