KARA
One of our long time adopters and his wife had adopted an easy going male from us, Cosmo. They saw a female Akita, Kara, on Craig's list and took her in the hopes that she and Cosmo would get along. Unfortunately things did not quite go the way they planned. Kara is great with people, but can get too wound up when playing with other dogs and escalate into a fight. They asked us for help in placing her and agreed to keep her until we could find a home. Al unexpectedly died a few weeks ago. Linda felt she could not deal with both dogs in the current situation. We agreed to take Kara and find her a home. Kara has learned to play tug and fetch with people with no issues. She is excitable at meal time but not food aggressive. She is currently being kenneled. Recently, she had diarrhea and vomiting and was limping on her right front foot. At the vet she was a sweetheart with all the staff. She ignored the other dogs there as long as they kept their distance. She had a laceration on her paw (possibly from fence fighting) and was diagnosed with Lyme disease. The laceration was sewn up and she is being treated for the Lyme disease. Although she is small, she is a little dynamo and likes to be in charge. She needs to have a home with Akita or dominant dog experience.
Kara is curretnly being kenneled. A foster home would help her along her journey to her forever home.
