Meet Chase, a 5 year young neutered male. Chase is an amazing Akita, in spite of the first few years of his life. We are told that he once was an indoor/outdoor dog, then when the owner acquired too many dogs Chase and the others were put outside on chains, in 2012 the Coalition to Unchain Dogs came on the scene a installed fencing so that the dogs could at least be free from chains. In 2013 the owner started having health issued and asked CUD to find homes for all the dogs except Chase, he wanted to keep him. A year later, the owner agreed to have CUD rehome Chase as well. CUD contacted ARMAC and we were eager to help Chase. Chase has made huge progress in just the few days he's been in fostercare. Once an anxious, nervous and confused dog about being inside a house, he had settled down and seems to be enjoying all the love and attention he gets from his foster family. Sadly, Chase tested positive for heartworms, so until is treatment is complete he not be available for adoption.
Please consider sponsoring Chase to assist with his heartworm treatment costs and other care.
Chase suffers from generalized anxiety which causes him to be anxious when his routine is disrupted. Chase also struggles with seperation anxiety, which can be managed with a regular routine.
Chase loves to play, and enjoys being walked at least once a day. He walks terrific on leash. He loves exploring new surroundings and has been exposed to a few other dogs polite dogs without any issues. Chase is housebroken and rarely barks. His overall personality and mannerisms are very "cat like". Chase likes everything on his terms, which can be challenging for some owners.
Chase would do best in a family where someone is home most of the day; where there is a daily schedule that is followed routinely. An experienced Akita owner is best, someone who is willing to respect and love Chase for who he is. He would do best in a home with older children, he seems to really enjoy the company of polite and calm girls. Chase may very well thrive with a calm and well mannered female dog. He has not been exposed to cats or other small animals.
Chase will be available to go to a new home once his heartworm treatments are complete and he has a clean bill of health.
If Chase sounds like a good fit for you and your family please feel free to complete an adoption application.
