Scarlett was left behind by her owner; we understand that he was breeding Akitas.  When she came into resuce she suffered from heartworms and had a urinary tract infection.  Scarlet is fairly new to our rescue, therefore she will not be available for adoption until more is known about her.  Scarlett is currently on a special diet for her urinary tract issues, which has caused weight gain.  We don't anticipate her needing to be on a special diet the rest of her life, but until she achieve optimal health she will continue on it.  Scarlett is mistrusting of new people and it does take some time for her to trust.  Scarlet will definetly need an Akita savy owner.
