Consider Fostering an Akita...

ARMAC is always in need of qualified foster homes. We receive, on average, 58 calls per month from owners wanting to give-up their Akitas or area shelters who have Akitas in their facilities. Out of these 58 or so calls, we are only able to help 1 or 2 do to our lack of foster homes.

Fostering, while it is a lot of work, is also very fulfilling. Helping to save the life of an Akita who would otherwise be euthanized is a joy that can only be surpassed by experiencing the satisfaction of watching a fostered Akita in his new and loving home. Wow! You can't have a better feeling than that!

The process of applying to be a foster home is very similar to that of adoption. You simply complete a foster home application, your application is reviewed, one or more ARMAC adoption coordinators will interview you and a house check is conducted. If approved, you are well on your way to helping ARMAC save many more Akitas from certain death.

Baca is a perfect example of a wonderful Akita who would otherwise have not been rescued had it not been for the Stambaugh's. The Stambaugh's heard of Baca's plight, they stepped forward and offered to foster this happy, sweet tempered 4 month old Akita. The Stambaugh's foster application was put on the fast track and shortly after Baca's ordeal began it ended when he was taken into the loving foster care of the Stambaugh's.
